Blessed Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan & Blessed Mary of the Apostles

Blessed Francis Jordan (1848-1918) was a German priest and the founder of the Society of the Divine Savior, known as the Salvatorians. His life was characterized by an immense apostolic zeal, ignited by witnessing the spiritual needs of people in his homeland during a time of secularization.

Driven by a profound conviction that Jesus Christ is the world’s only Savior, he founded the Salvatorians with the mission to proclaim this message far and wide. Blessed Francis Jordan inspired his followers with an unshakeable trust in Divine Providence and a burning desire to bring salvation to all people, by all means inspired by God’s love. His legacy is a global network dedicated to spreading the Gospel, a testament to his far-reaching apostolic vision.

Blessed Mary of the Apostles (Therese von Wüllenweber, 1833-1907) was a German noblewoman and co-foundress of the Sisters of the Divine Savior (Salvatorian Sisters). From a young age, she was “fired with a missionary vocation” and spent years searching for a community that would allow her to dedicate herself to the missions. This burning desire, her apostolic zeal, was the driving force of her life.

She met Father Francis Jordan, founder of the Salvatorians, and recognized in him a shared vision for a worldwide apostolic mission. Together, they founded the Sisters’ branch of the Salvatorian Family. Blessed Mary of the Apostles’s life was a testament to her heroic patience and unwavering trust in divine providence as she worked tirelessly to establish and expand the congregation, sending sisters to missions around the world. Her commitment to the missions and her apostolic spirit are a lasting legacy of her life and work.
